Time for change
This particular quote has been my favorite for as long as I can remember. As I considered a decision to run for School Board this quote seemed even more fitting. As I've shared with friends, I feel called to make change and amplify the voices of ALL stakeholders in our school district and I hope that my example will inspire others.
Thank you for taking the time to come to my page. I'm a proud Royal Oak resident. One of the reasons that my husband and I chose Royal Oak for our home 17 years ago was the fact that it had quality public schools. My husband and I are proud graduates of public education, and I am the daughter of a life long public school teacher. In 2016 when Royal Oak schools made the national news due to racist incidents at the middle school it was concerning to our family. We were initially pleased with the response of the district and it's verbalized commitment to making Royal Oak a safe and inviting community for all students. It makes me sad to say that as a parent in the district I have witnessed very little tangible change implemented in the four years since.
It is my hope that with new Board leadership there will be opportunities to move the district forward. I believe that Royal Oak can do better and I hope I am given a chance to work hard to amplify the voices of all stakeholders who don't feel seen or heard.
It would be my honor to have your vote and be given the chance to serve my community.
